AI Workbook for IB Primary Years Programme Students (NYP January 2027)
AI Workbook for IB Primary Years Programme Students (NYP January 2027)
Help young learners explore artificial intelligence with curiosity, care and confidence.
The AI Workbook for IB Primary Years Programme Students is an AI literacy resource for primary students in IB World Schools. Published by Pearson Education and written by Rita Bateson of Eblana Learning, it introduces children to how AI works, where they meet it in daily life, and how to think about it fairly and safely.
This is not a “how to use AI tools” guide. Students learn through inquiry. They ask questions, explore simple case studies, talk through everyday dilemmas, and reflect on what they notice. The workbook builds the habits they will need as AI becomes part of school and home life.
What’s inside
- Inquiry-led activities that start from students’ own questions about AI and technology
- Explicit links to the IB Learner Profile, especially inquirers, thinkers, principled, caring and reflective
- Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills practice in thinking, communication, social, self-management and research skills
- Connections to the PYP transdisciplinary themes, so AI learning fits naturally into units of inquiry
- Reflection prompts and discussion activities that make children’s thinking visible
- Early academic integrity habits, including being honest about when and how help was used
Who it’s for
- PYP classroom teachers and specialists who need ready-to-use AI literacy lessons
- PYP coordinators building a whole-school approach to AI
- Parents and carers who want to support safe, thoughtful technology use at home
Why schools choose it
The workbook is part of a three-level series covering the PYP, MYP, and DP/CP. Primary students build a foundation of curiosity and exploration. Later workbooks extend that foundation into analysis, evaluation, and academic research, giving schools one coherent AI literacy pathway from primary through to graduation.
